Concordia University Recruiting Interviewees for Study on Adolescent Motivation in Engaging in Sports and Physical Activity

Dr. Jim Gavin, Dr. Madeleine Mcbrearty (of Concordia University) and Dr. William Harvey (of McGill University)
are conducting research to develop curriculum to be used in high school physical education programs. This curriculum will increase student participation in regular physical activity.
We are currently looking for adolescents in secondary 3-5, (ages 15-17) who have had a longstanding involvement (over 8 years) in physical activity/exercise.
We would like to see why certain students are motivated to stay involved in sports and physical education.
Interested adolescents would be asked to participate in a face-to-face, semi-structured interview lasting approximately 1 hour. The interview would be with the youth and one or both parents / legal guardians. We would also ask their coaches/physical education teachers to fill out a short questionnaire about their physical education habits.

- Be available to be interviewed for approximately 1 hour with one or both of their parents contributing to the interview (this study needs legal guardians)
- Be able to conduct the interviews in English
